I have been married to my husband, Kit, for over 49 years, and am the mother of two boys.
I grew up on Long Island, New York, and moved to Houston, where I met Kit. We have lived together in Houston, Dallas and Austin, and have an enjoyment of travel and have traveled extensively.
I have been a long-time screenwriter, and had several screenplays considered in Hollywood, but, alas, none produced. My play, "The King of Texas," was performed at the Ground Floor Theatre in Austin and directed by Ken Webster (no relation).
I was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels and for many years was able to donate a special type of blood to babies in need.
I now devote my time to my family, my friends and babies, although there might be one more screen play to be done.

Why are you called “the baby whisperer?”
​
Babies that I cuddle in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit at a hospital in Austin) are usually in some kind of distress and pain. Often they have tubes coming out of them and wires attached to them. What I try to do is to give them some comfort and relief. Often, I am able to get them to become calm and go to sleep, or I am able to distract them for a while. Once, I heard two nurses talking outside of a room in which I was cuddling a baby. One nurse referred to me and said, “She is our baby whisperer.” That was a wonderful compliment, because that is exactly why I am there.

Why are you babysitting?

Simply because I love babies, infants and young children.
When I was young, all I wanted to be was a mother. I struggled with infertility and was then blessed by two adopted sons. My love for babies has not gone away. Since it looks like I will not be a grandmother, I have been a step-grandmother to many of my friends’ grandchildren. I decided that I would become even more involved through volunteering as a baby cuddler in the NICU and through babysitting.
